Who is Gog of Magog? - Watchtower May 2015
by jwleaks inhere we go again... let's study... news report... comment.... who is gog of magog mentioned in the book of ezekiel?.
for a number of years, our publications have explained that gog of magog is the name given to satan the devil after his ouster from heaven.
this explanation was based on the fact that the book of revelation identifies satan the devil as the leader of the worldwide attack on gods people.

Conversation with a “Genius" JW
by Bloody Hotdogs! inthis is a real conversation i had with a jw friend last night.
several times previously he claimed to be a certified genius, having supposedly passed the mensa test.... .
me: so what do you think about jws condoning the idea that dinosaurs could have lived with humans?.

So there's a question about whether people "believe" in cabin dating? I understand the WT has tried to shed some doubt on the process, in an attempt to show that history doesn't prove the bible to be inaccurate.. But he was the one who was surprised YOU believed in it? Never heard that one before.
I like your line of questioning. It could be adapted for a fader or "in" person to get someone to think. Some JWs like to try to prove that JWism aligns with the facts. These are great questions for those people.
well done

Building 500 new kingdom halls?
by Coded Logic inthe wtbts has to know they aren't actually going to see their numbers significantly jump anytime soon/ever right?
are they planning on cutting the rbc down to 1/10th the work force so they can actually slow down their kh projects instead of increasing them?
or do they think their little website scheme is actually going to bring in more people?.

We know the new halls aren't to accommodate growth... There is no growth to speak of in the US.
So the 500 new halls must be to replace old ones? either they are beyond repair or (more likely) they are replacing investments that have matured (property value has peaked).

Is is Muslim terrorist cafe seige Sydney...hundreds of hostages! looks bad.

Soooo.. Let's talk about this.
Why a cafe? why THIS cafe? I understand an "attack" on the Sydney opera house but... A cafe?
Really shooting for the stars there jihadists.
I've said it here before, I'll say it again. There are FAR more Islamic extremists in the world than we realize. Far more.
If 5% of Muslims could be convinced by extremists (very easily plausible) that's 80,000,000 potential Muslim militants. That's scary, even if they were just angry sheep herders with pick axes and shovels. But they're not. They're well funded and well equipped. And hugely supported.
And yet they targeted a cafe in Australia. That's all they've managed to pull off lately? Don't underestimate the effect our counter terrorist organizations on the leading countries of the world.

Q-tips and Coffee Filters helped me learn TTATT
by RedPillPopper inwell they didn't fully teach me ttatt but helped me on the way.............. first thing i do in the morning after waking up is grinding some nice coffee beans and getting the brew started while i take a hot shower.
after the shower i like to clean out all the nasty wax out of my ears with a q-tip (or cotton swab for those not familiar with that term).. while cleaning out my ears i would think about how nice it is we have things like q-tips and coffee filters that make life more enjoyable but at the same time realize that somebody somewhere is in a factory making these.. i can't imagine a child saying "when i grow up i want to work in a factory making coffee filters".
the people who end up really doing that as adults did not set that to be a life goal.

One day in service years ago, the bro driving our group spat his gum out the window before he hopped out to make a call. His wife snickered, said "you're going to be on gum-scraping duty in the paradise!"
Immediately the thought popped into my mind... I'd rather scrape gum day in and day out than be on dead body burial duty. Billions upon billions of bodies.

IS THIS SICK? LYING TO DISABLED CHILDREN!!
by Bloody Hotdogs! inhas anyone watched the videos for children on jw.org?
i feel sick.. in one video a little girl dreams about paradise: the blind can see again, the deaf can hear again, and of course, she gets to hug a cute little panda cub.
not until the end of the video is her wheelchair revealed.

I wonder if Jehovah will modify the digestive systems of all the carnivores to be able to eat veggies? Of course, their systems have only been that way for 4500 years... Since the flood of course.
The shark looks happy cause there's a nice kelp bed for dinner

How did you feel when you got baptised? Seriously....
by stuckinarut2 inso recently, several over-righteous ones in the cong were discussing "how amazing it felt when they got baptised".
statements like "how awesome did it feel as you got raised back out of the water?!".
or the classic "i felt so close to jehovah as i came out of the pool"!.

I felt some relief, some guilt. I thought I was supposed to want to be baptized. I did it because I couldn't put it off any longer. I was 20 years old, the last of my acquaintances to be baptized, and was already dating my beautiful later-to-be wife. Pressure from pretty much all sides.
I wanted my family not to be proud, but no longer ashamed. I had no interest except not to be killed at the big A. Being fed lies my whole life I thought the world really was going to end in my lifetime.

What Made You Finally Wake Up?
by Tenacious inhello to all.
i've been on this site for a couple of weeks now posting here and there but have not had the opportunity to read about many of the regular members and what led up to their leaving the wt.. i understand that some of you (i'm part of this club) may not be able to disclose many details and i can appreciate that.. i'd love to hear what was it that finally made you renounce what is and hopefully soon to be "was" the wt.. i truly look forward to having good discussions.. thank you to all for your kind participation.. .

Once I learned that 607 was wrong, it was official for me. There was a lot leading up to that, but that's where I drew the line.

Hello!
by mikeypants inwanted to say hello to you all.
i am new to the forum and just wanted to introduce myself.
i was raised a witness, never baptized (yay) and am married to a lovely baptized witness of jehovah.. i had been trying to get back into it due to both our families being j dbs but just never could get it into my heart.
-
Captain Obvious
Wow that hurts to have your families boycott your wedding.
How long did you put off baptism? I mean how old are you now? If you're not really young they should have known something was up.

Welcome mikeypants!
Couple questions: how devout is your wife? Family? Take this into consideration as you make your exit.
Theres a chance your wife, even if she's really liberal will turn on baby-protection mode and try to forcefully raise the kid a JW. It could drive a wedge between you.
The first thing you need to do is find out exactly where she's at. Even a very liberal or inactive dub can turn on a dime. We've all been brainwashed from birth. Cults are dangerous creatures.
Anyway, explore the board a bit, feel free to comment. I'll bet you'll find lots of issues with the JWs that you never even knew about.
